“Cobalt, a color of ingenuity and enlightenment, represents the unconventional artist within me ...Its electrifying impact is visible in the multilayered complex pieces which add a contemporary twist to my work.”
One can comprehend the true power of contours by closely analyzing drawings of expressionist Egon Schiele. His figurative sketches are erotic and exhibit remarkable fluidity. Auguste Rodin’s continuous contour method was very well adopted and stylized by Schiele in his work. One can see how the artist was one with his subject, capturing the nuances of the form through continuous contour lines. Schiele’s use of a limited bright color palette in contrast to mutes is bold and expressive, inspiring generations ahead. One of his most celebrated is certainly the most narrative to. A direct look into the eyes of the viewer speaks of his admirable confidence. One can notice how the artist portrayed reality without idealization of the form freely exhibiting even the most undesirable scars and marks of the skin, definitely a characteristic trait of an expressionist.
Even today when I begin to draw I spend a good amount of time studying this great masters work. It is almost like a meditative ground preparing me to explore the infinite power of lines and contours. I often start with just a tussle of loose lines which gradually develop an unintentional character. They reciprocate, yes lines talk and express the turmoil within you at least for me they do. I love to experiment with mediums along with the character of lines. Bold brushwork when combined with fragile Charcoal adds interesting movement and dynamics to my work. Unlike Schiele I am hooked to neutral color palette, probably a reflection of myself. from my recent collection of abstract figurative is a humble tribute to the master of fluidity and expression Egon Schiele.
